2-POINT SUPER CLASS OF BLOCK BACKWARD DIFFERENTIATION FORMULA WITH OFF-STEP POINTS FOR SOLVING STIFF INITIAL VALUE PROBLEMS

Abstract In this paper, Two-point super class of Block Backward Differentiation Formula with off-step points for solving stiff initial value problems is developed. This is achieved by introducing a non zero coefficient ?_(k-1) to the existing 2-point Block Backward Differentiation Formula with off-step points method (2OBBDF). The method is found to be of order 5. Stability region showed that the method is almost A-Stable. The numerical results obtained are compared with those in the 2OBBDF which showed that the new method developed outperformed the 2OBBDF in terms of accuracy. However, there is no any improvement in the execution time.
