BIFURCATION ANALYSIS FOR CHOLERA DISEASE AT THE ENDEMIC EQUILIBRIUM

Abstract This paper examines the existence of bifurcation for cholera disease at the endemic equilibrium using a deterministic mathematical model. The equilibrium points of the model are derived and the stability analyzes of the equilibria are conducted. Condition for the stability of the Disease Free Equilibrium (DFE) is used to investigate the existence of bifurcation at the endemic equilibrium and the result of the analysis is presented in tabular form. Bifurcation of cholera disease at the endemic equilibrium implies that a stable endemic equilibrium is possible even if the disease free equilibrium is stable and the disease may not be only prevalent in the population but also endemic.
