Casson Fluid Flow and Mass Transfer along a Porous Medium using Perturbation Method

Omokhuale, E. and 2Altine, M. M.

Abstract In this study, the influence of some thermo-physical quantities of engineering interest on unsteady natural convective boundary layer flow of a non-Newtonian fluid accompanied by mass transfer along an infinite vertical plate is considered. Casson fluid model is used to describe the non-Newtonian fluid behavior. The Rosseland approximation is employed for the energy equation. The governing partial differential equations are converted into a set of non-linear coupled partial differential equations in dimensionless form using some suitable variables. Furthermore, these equations were solved analytically by Perturbation technique to obtain their approximate solutions. Finally, we examined the influence of the non-dimensional quantities on the flow field through graphs and Tables. Results indicate that as Casson parameter becomes significant the momentum boundary layer thickness becomes shorter. This is because of the plasticity of the fluid. An excellent agreement was also found when the results obtained in this study was compared with the previous literature to check the accuracy.
