A Mathematical Model for Estimating Livestock Production Profit-Period in a Year.

O.D Ogwumu and M.O Ogofotha

Abstract The research is concerned with the development of a mathematical model for estimating livestock production profit-period in a year, considering poultry farm (broiler production). The model was optimized and observation about the model?s extreme value was made in order to know whether there is a certain period in a year that one can record the highest profit (gain or loss). Thereafter, the model was analysed and the data results were compared with gathered data from Delta state polytechnic poultry farm, Ozoro, Nigeria using suitable statistical tools. The findings from the comparisons showed that the data result from our model and the gathered data result have a higher degree of correlation as shown in section 3.4; thus recommending the model as a standard measure for estimating livestock profit-period in a year. Consequently, recommendations were made at the end of the model analysis. Keywords: Profit, Selling price, Cost price, Poultry farm, Broiler production, Model parameter, Nature of equation, Optimisation, Profit estimated.
