This study investigated the effect of Collaborative Learning Strategy on performance in Algebra among Senior Secondary Schools Students in Kaduna State Nigeria. This study was guided by two research questions and two Null hypotheses. The researcher adopted quasi-experimental research design with experimental and control groups. A sample of one hundred and seven (107) SS II Students was drawn using a simple random sampling technique from a population of one thousand seven hundred and fifty five (1755) students in the study area. Two senior secondary schools were also selected out of 12 (twelve) public senior secondary schools in the study area. Instrument used was Algebra Performance Test (APT)with the reliability of 0.69. The research questions were answered by, mean rank difference, while research Hypotheses were tested using Mann-Whitney at 0.05 level of significant. Research findings revealed there was a significant difference in performance between students taught algebra using Collaborative Learning Strategy and those taught the same concept using conventional methods. There was no significant difference in performance of male and female students taught algebra using Collaborative Learning Strategy. Therefore, the Strategy is gender friendly. On the basis of the findings a number of recommendations were made. One of the major recommendations is that the teaching of mathematics in general should be conducted in such a way that students should be actively involved in the learning processes, which enable them to see mathematics as part of their daily life activities and thereby enhance the students? performance academically. Keywords: Algebra, Performance and Collaborative.
