THE INFLUENCE OF CLASS SIZE ON THE STUDENTS ACHIEVEMENT IN PROBABILITY IN JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL

The main purpose of the study was to investigate the influence of class size on the Students? achievement in Probability in Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The design of the study was an ex-post facto design. The sample for the study was 148 Junior Secondary II, 65, and 83 students from urban and rural areas respectively. Purposive sampling technique was used to select four (4) schools out of 12 Junior Secondary Schools in the Local Government Area, two (2) schools from urban and two (2) from rural. One instrument was used for the data collection Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT) based on the probability question. Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer the research questions, T-test Analysis was used in testing the hypothesis at the 0.05 level of significance.
