Abstract This study investigated the impact of problem solving technique on students? achievement in quadratic equation at secondary school level. In an effort to achieve this, a 50 item multiple choice Pretest and Posttest Quadratic equation achievement test (r = 0.79) were administered on a sample of 132 students before and after the teaching the students respectively. Intact classes to different treatment groups were involved from four (4) randomly selected secondary schools in Ado ? Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State. At the end of the study which lasted for four (4) weeks, the analysis of the data was subjected analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) at ? = 0.05 level of significance. The findings revealed that students exposed to problem solving technique achieved more in solving quadratic equation than students who were not exposed to the treatment of the problem solving technique. Furthermore, female students in the experimental group achieved more in the achievement test than the male students. Based on the findings, problem solving technique should be introduced in our senior secondary schools in Nigeria. Key words: Quadratic Equation, senior secondary schools, performance, problem?solving
