Abstract Concrete foundation lay at the grass root often yield fruitful future. The first stage of mastering Mathematics is to understand it basic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). In the light of this, the research attempt to explore and assess gelosia multiplication strategy on performance among primary school pupils in Tureta metropolis Sokoto state, Nigeria. Two research questions with their equivalent hypotheses were raised. Two schools were sampled out of a population of 12 primary schools using simple random sampling through balloting method. Multiplication Performance Test (MPT) was used to collect data. The instrument was validated and the reliability coefficient was found to be 0.79 using Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). The research design was qausi-experimental design entailing pre-test and post-test. The Data collected were analyzed using independent sample t-test. The result shows a significant difference between pupils taught multiplication using gelosia method and those taught using conventional algorithm method (traditional method). Among the recommendation was that federal ministry of secondary and basic education, state universal basic education, local government education authorities and other professional bodies such as MAN, STAN should organize workshops using gelosia strategy as theme to train primary school teachers.
