Abstract This study attempted to investigate the effect of guided discovery method of teaching on retention and performance in geometry among Senior Secondary School two in Zaria Local Government Kaduna State. Three objectives, three research questions and three null hypotheses were formulated at alpha(?) =0.05 significant level. The population of this study was drawn from fifteen schools within Zaria Local Government, Kaduna State the population sample consist of two schools with the total number of 146 students. The sampling techniques was purposive. pretest-post-test and post-post-test control group design was adopted. For the instrumentation of this study, Geometry Concept Test (GCT) was developed for the purpose of collecting and analyzing the data. The test statistics used was Wilcoxon Sign Rank Test. This study shown that teaching Senior Secondary Two Geometry with the application of Guided Discovery Method improves students? achievement to a higher level than normal Traditional lecture method and was found that it is a gender friendly. Teachers of mathematics were advised to embraced teaching mathematics specifically geometry using Guided Discovery Method.
