ADOPTION ANALYSIS OF MATHEMATICAL APPLICATIONS IN AGRICULTURAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN ANKPA LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA, KOGI STATE, NIGERIA.

Abstract The study analyzed the awareness and adoption levels of mathematical applications in agricultural entrepreneurship in Ankpa Local Government Area (LGA), Kogi State, Nigeria. Using random sampling procedure, a sample of 90 agricultural entrepreneurs was taken from the 9 districts of the study area to represent the study population. Data for this study were collected using well structured questionnaire which was validated by two experts. The instrument had a reliability coefficient of 0.71using Cronbach Alpha analysis. Organization and description of data were done by the use of frequency distribution table, percentage, mean and sigma/adoption scoring method. The findings indicated that significant proportion (72.2%) of the respondents was aware of the utilization of mathematical applications in agricultural entrepreneurship, but only 33.3% adopted the package. The adoption score of 4.068 for agricultural entrepreneurs/farmers who adopted the use of mathematical applications revealed low level of adoption of the package in the study area. Based on the findings from the study, it was recommended that all the tiers of government as well as all other stakeholders should as a matter of priority; generate public awareness of mathematics as central and key to the development of agricultural entrepreneurial skill among entrepreneurs/farmers, etc. Keywords: Adoption, mathematical applications, package, agricultural entrepreneurship.
