Abstract The study investigated the effectiveness of brain- based learning approach on primary school pupils? achievement in mathematics. Based on the purpose of the study three research questions and three hypotheses guide the study. Quasi-experimental design involving pre-test- post test design was used for the study. The instruments used for data collection was researchers made mathematics achievement test (MAT) .The validity of the instrument was done by two experts, from mathematics education and measurement evaluation. The reliability of the instruments was determined using Pearson product moment and it found to be 0.86. Mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions while ANCOVA were used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The results of the study reveal that brain-based was an effective approach for teaching and learning of mathematics. Gender was not a barrier to achievement. Based on the result, it was recommended that mathematics teachers should adopt brain ? based instructional approach in teaching mathematics at the primary school level.
