Abstract This paper recognizes the fact that mathematics is a veritable tool for achieving successes in crop production technologies which in turn could enhance food production for the teeming population of the world. The paper therefore focuses on the concept of crop production technologies and its evolution from mathematical knowledge and skills for the purpose of increasing food production that would raise the standard of living of farmers and the entire populace. Implications for extension delivery were discussed. The paper concludes that learning of mathematics at both formal and informal levels should be encouraged; and that extension delivery system should be well funded for sustained crop production for the benefit of humanity.
